Characteristics of True Dendrites:
- Usually centrally located
2. Linear branching with central ulceration staining with fluorescein
3. Terminal bulbs and swollen borders present
Still, not every true dendrite should be assumed to be a Herpes Simplex Keratitis
Pseudo-dendrites are almost always non-HSV
- HZO – Absence of terminal buds, smaller in size and elevated without central ulceration
- Contact Lens Wear – Disappear on discontinuation
- Recurrent corneal Ulcer due to Cogan’s Microcystic Dystrophy
- Post traumatic corneal abrasion
